Planning is essential. It is the most important step in project cargo logistics. The complete transport plan contains data on the origin of the cargo, the route, the right time for the move, the destination rules and information on entry procedures or other related requirements. Planning all steps from the beginning to the completion of the project cargo is important to successfully execute the shipment. Detailed planning can move the project forward successfully and keep costs under control. Alonso Logistics India engages highly experienced professionals to prepare cost projections and plan the strategy. Fulfillments and licenses differ depending on the region where the project is being carried out and this is something to keep in mind.
Study and survey
Studying the complexities and peculiarities of the cargo is essential. The project cargo team must carry out a good analysis. The next step is to conduct thorough route studies to determine the feasibility of the transport of choice: road, rail, sea or air. The team must also be aware of the import and export regulations of the destination to ensure that there are no incidents. They must also be aware of the customer's delivery obligations so that the equipment arrives on time.
The movement of ODC or overdimensional cargo requires comprehensive knowledge and experience. Alonso Logistics India has teams with extensive experience in handling ODC for project cargo work of this type. Specially designed trucks may be required for certain ODC cargo transportation. Alonso Logistics India, with its own fleet of vehicles, transports all types of machinery. We provide companies with an estimate of feasible projects and update the movement in real time. Our team responds quickly to problems and resolves any mishaps.
It is crucial to first understand whether the cargo to be containerised is oversized or not. Depending on what is being shipped, one type of container or another must be selected. In some cases cargo cannot be moved in containers. Project cargo is usually bulk or out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo, but some of it can be containerised on standard racks, open tops or flat racks. But not everything is OOG and they can be oversized, meaning they are overweight or overlength. But the point to note is that regardless of the type of container, the cargo must be safely secured and correctly stowed so that the shipment arrives at its destination in the expected condition.
Quality control is central to supply chain management. The capabilities of the suppliers, the quality of the material or raw materials must be examined. In this way, supply chain managers can evaluate and protect the entire process. Regular audits are conducted to verify compliance and determine whether key KPIs such as on-time delivery, product quality, minimum complaint resolution time and final product quality are maintained.
